Teaching

Teaching statement

During my time as a PhD student and teaching assistant at the Department of Economics and Ghent University, I had the opportunity to collaborate closely with professors in supporting their teaching activities. I served as a first contact point for students in case they had questions on the interpretation of the material. Moreover, I supervised multiple students in their bachelor and master thesis, of which multiple started a PhD themselves afterwards. My aim is to continue growing in teaching by both inspiring students to dive deep into economic topics and learning from students' insights and outcomes from their own work.

My teaching philosophy centers on empowering students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world situations, fostering their independence through managing workloads and collaborating in teams, and highlighting the significance of research in the broader context. By combining lectures, interactive discussions (e.g., with field experts), and tailored tasks (both individual and in group), I strive to create a stimulating and dynamic learning environment that supports students' growth,  and prepares them for successful careers. I am convinced that it is important to stimulate students' own responsibility in the completion of their studies as a part of the learning process.
